KIRSTIN BAISH| President Donald Trump has made it perfectly clear that he has a big problem with the way that Congress has been handling their decision making lately. It’s nice to have a president who isn’t scared of pissing people off in order to get his point across, isn’t it? This time, President Trump has made some serious statements explaining that Congress will no longer have special treatment if they don’t make some important changes to our health care in America. Trump is sick of the double standard when it comes to the Affordable Care Act. The major issue is that it really isn’t affordable at all for most Americans. As a whole, we are struggling to even find health care plans that we can afford.
Trump went on Twitter Monday morning to make himself very clear. He had a blunt message for Congress, and they had better take it seriously.
“If ObamaCare is hurting people, & it is, why shouldn’t it hurt the insurance companies & why should Congress not be paying what the public pays?”
President Trump hasn’t had any qualms about showing his utter frustration with Congress, despite their mainly “Republican” label. Their inability to come up with a repeal-and-replace legislative package has been extremely frustrating, not just for the President, but also for all of us Americans who are struggling as well. We faced some bad news last week when the Republicans tried and failed to pass a “skinny repeal” of ObamaCare.
Representative Trey Gowdy (Republican, South Carolina) asked, “Our problem is for seven years we’ve been telling folks what we’re against and what we’re opposed to, and then we’ve had seven months to govern, and the best we can come up with is a skinny plan on 24 hours’ notice?”
We all know that President Trump doesn’t like the Affordable Care Act that is in place right now, and why would he? Millions of Americans are struggling everyday just to have sufficient health care. Trump even stated, “ObamaCare is death.”
We aren’t so sure exactly what President Trump has up his sleeve in order to replace ObamaCare. The Republicans really need to come up with something that will make it easier for Americans to have proper health care, because as of right now, most of us are barely able to get the minimum care that we need. For seven years, the Republican Party has been bashing ObamaCare, but we really need to hear what they are planning to do to make our health care system workable.
Conservatives all over America are really praying that now that the Republicans have control of the Senate, House, AND presidency, we will be able to fix so many of the problems that former President Barack Obama created during his eight year reign. We are all hoping for a reliable repeal-and-replace package to come before midterm elections.
Congress is definitely a target at this point, and if they don’t make some serious changes very soon, President Trump has made it clear that they will face serious consequences.
